Silent Systems

Silent Systems, and Adelaide-based acoustic and noise control specialist, needed a revamped web presence and full e-commerce functionality to enable their customers to purchase products around Australia at any time of the day. As many of Silent System’s products are designed for the do-it-yourself market, the focus needed to shift away from the technical side of the high performing products and move into the ease of access and understanding of the features and benefits of each product and application. While Silent Systems previously had an online presence, it didn’t allow them to easily update information which resulted in a very static website, and old product information.

Starting from scratch allowed Scott Reynolds and Silent Systems to reimagine their online appearance, and shifted the focus to building a stronger branding strategy for the company. Because of the nature of the products used by Silent Systems, the design was based around utilising large imagery to demonstrate some of the architectural features that could be achieved by implementing the Silent Systems range. The site also had to be built responsively to support browsing from a mobile phone or tablet, and ensure that no matter how the customer reached Silent Systems they could complete their interaction without having to change devices.

Using the WordPress platform, Scott Reynolds designed and developed the new site with these concepts in mind, and used the WooCommerce plugin to develop the e-commerce shopfront that is now used to serve all online shopping traffic on the site. With a direct connection to a leading payment gateway, Silent Systems can now offer their customers the convenience of paying for purchases using a credit card or bank transfer, without the need for a PayPal account (which is one of the most common options for e-commerce gateways). Through the development process, SEO techniques were used to ensure that the site would be as visible as possible to both new and existing customers, and each product was carefully marked up using the appropriate schema to ensure that availability, product information, images and prices were available directly from the search engine.

The WordPress platform allows Silent Systems to manage their own entire web presence, including adding news stories, updating existing content and creating new content, updating and adding photos, managing their product lines and inventory levels, and also monitoring performance of their site. There is no longer a need for them to call a web developer just to update some text or other content on the site – a great time and cost saving benefit from this project.
