Kids Chompers (more formally known as Sydney Paediatric Dental Services) is a Sydney-based children’s specialist dentist, operating in the popular neighbourhood of Chatswood. While they had an old website which presented the crucial information to patients, both old and new, they needed something more modern to represent the forward-thinking nature of the practice and dentist Dr Kareen Mekertichian. Kids Chompers engaged Scott Reynolds to design and develop their new site, ensure that it was fast and functional, and sent the best impression possible to new patients looking for the best dentist practice for their children. The business had existing logos and colour schemes, that were preserved, but the look and feel of the site was open to suggestions. While large-scale imagery was considered, it was decided to avoid distractions and focus on the excellent work that Kids Chompers does: being the first (and leading) specialist kids dentist in Sydney. Scott Reynolds used WordPress as a back-end to enable Kids Chompers to manage their site independently in the future, and created a custom admin interface to allow them to manage their content and layouts in an easy manner.
The site is fully responsive and quickly adjusts to any device that is used to view the site. The simple nature of the site meant that there were no advanced animation requirements here, and as a result the site was made to work in most old browsers. It was decided to replace the static map image used on the old site with a dynamic Google map, allowing visitors to locate the practice and nearby parking options, and navigate around as required to find the best way to visit. The Kids Chompers website needed to be built using a Content Management System (CMS), and WordPress was chosen here yet again as the best suited system for the task at hand. While the layout isn’t overly complex, it was important that Scott Reynolds enabled Sydney Paediatric Dental Services to manage this content and layout without having to call on a web developer each time.
Using the WordPress platform allows Sydney Paediatric Dental Services to manage their company’s complete online presence: including adding new content and modifying existing content, updating and adding photos to each page (and creating new pages from scratch), and also monitoring overall performance of the Kids Chompers site. There is no need for Sydney Paediatric Dental Services to ever call a web developer when they just need to update or modify the site – saving ongoing costs as an important outcome. The site is SEO optimised and fully linked with Google Analytics to ensure that Sydney Paediatric Dental Services knows how their site is performing, and can adjust content as required based on the information these regular reports provide.
